$40 for a dog haircut?!
September3
Today I went to Petco to get Kuta shaved. Dude! It costs $40 to get my dog a haircut! And, that’s just to shave him down, nothing fancy. No bows, no special poodle hairdo, no doggie deodorant, no nothin’. I don’t even spend that much on a haircut for myself! So, since I think that’s ridiculous I went and bought some $20 clippers and I’m going to shave him myself. Maybe I’ll give him a mohawk…
10. Your hairdresser doesn’t wash and clean your rear end.
9. You don’t go for eight weeks without washing or brushing your hair.
8. Your hairdresser doesn’t have to give you a sanitary trim.
7. Your hairdresser doesn’t have to clean your ears.
6. Your hairdresser doesn’t have to remove the boogies from your eyes.
5. You sit still for your hairdresser.
4. Your haircut doesn’t include a manicure or pedicure.
3. Your hairdresser only washes and cuts the hair on your head.
2. You don’t bite or scratch your hairdresser.
and the #1 reason why your Dog’s haircut costs more than yours :
1. The likelihood of you pooping or peeing while your hair is being cut is slim!
Do you know how to “express” your dogs anal gland? You’re going to learn real quick why dog grooming prices can run high, and those $20 clippers will last you about 2 cuts, if you’re lucky, and leave your dog looking like crap. The typical professional groomers clippers can cost anywhere from $80-$300. Another thing is groomers don’t just wash your dog once. Your dog can be washed 2-5 times before a clipping, depending on the owner, and don’t forget the 30mins. to an hour of brushing. You’re in for a real treat!
I don’t care if you publish my comment or not, I was just trying to answer the question.
Mike – Yes, I DO know how to “express” a dogs anal glands. Luckly my dog is a real dog (not some crossbred trendy breed that would die within 1 hour of being in the wild because it was crying in the bushes about it’s itchy anal sacs). Therefore he does not need your finger up his ass, and quite honestly I would hope that he would bite the shit out of anyone that would try and put a finger up his butt.
You are right about clippers though, a $40 pair of human clippers will only last 2 – 4 doggie haircuts. Although my dog really couldn’t care less about “looking like crap” (actually, he prefers it). I have since invested in a professional grade clipper for Kuta (cost $100, but I get them wholesale), well worth it and has lasted over 2 years now.
If a groomer washes a dog 2 – 5 times in a single grooming session, that is not only unnecessary (or amateur), it’s bad for a dogs skin. There is a reason that dogs don’t shower daily like humans, let alone 5 times in one day.
If a $40 doggie haircut consists of over-washing, fingers up the butt and “an hour of brushing”, I’m VERY glad that I didn’t submit Kuta to that!!
