Endless Summer

Easing into the big 2-8

June21

Today I turned the big 2-8, as in two more years until I’m 30! WTF?! Weird how time flies. Here I am exactly 27 years ago:

So, as I stroll into my late 20′s, I’d like to give some shout outs. First off, to my Mom, Robin:

Thank you for being the awesomest mom and human being anyone could hope to have or be. To this day, I have never met anyone that is as selfless, smart and funny (Is that where I get it from?!? haha ;) …). My mom even sent me to fashion school and paid for the whole thing (even though she didn’t have the money)! But then again, I’ve always been fashionable, so I can see how she recognized my potential:

Next up, my Dad, Mr. Mike:

First things first, thank you for getting the worlds worst vasectomy, so that I could be conceived a year later :) . Surprise!! Haha…My Dad is the funnest, coolest Dad ANYwhere. While Robin provided stability (tried to) and all that other great crap that kids need and don’t appreciate, my Dad was the king of adventure. Every weekend was like going to camp!! Weeeeee!! Dad would cook us all kinds of cool things like cheeseburgers, but he would cut the burger is half and put the cheese in the middle. OMG. AWESOME! He would even roll us sushi (WAY before sushi was cool and on every corner). Mexico, snakes, bungee cords, poison oak in my eye, need I go on?! We were like wild children, running through the fields! No, really, look:

Jesus, people, when was the last time I brushed my hair in that pic?! There is my brother, Shawn, apparently playing the guitar for me while I did an interpretive dance in that sweet blue leotard/swimsuit.

My brother, Shawn:

Thanks for not killing me. I’m pretty sure you’ve come pretty close a few times, like when you used to push me into the electric fence, when mom wasn’t home. I was thinking about it the other day and when I have kids, I want to have at least two, just because I don’t have a relationship with anyone else in the world like I do with my brother and I wouldn’t want to rob a kid of the chance of having a sibling. Plus, Shawn always takes me to the airport because he doesn’t have a real job ;) .

Well, there it is, my awesome immediate family. I’m outta here…

Many happy returns, Summer! 28 times round the sun. Hope you have many more, and hope someone bought you new Cookie monster slippers (are they still fashionable?)
