Panda Bears Discovered in Atlanta, GA!
January19
Stefan and I were wandering around the gift shop in the Atlanta, Georgia airport during an extended layover, when I spotted this magnet:

Why do I look so confused you ask? Atlanta isn’t exactly known for their panda bears. Probably because there are no pandas in Atlanta…
They must have gotten a REALLY good deal on these magnets.
Haha…yeah, not exactly the panda capital of the world. But I heard that they recently had a baby panda born at their zoo.
If you must know, the first Panda bears to be transported to the U.S. for zoo-living came through the port in Atlanta in 1954.
That’s probably from when those magnets are from.
Just to set the record straight, there were no giant pandas in the United States from Sept. 1953 until April 1972.
Since then, all giant pandas that have come to the US have been flown here by jet. How could Atlanta have a port that could handle ocean-going vessels since it’s in the middle of the state with no major waterways connecting to the ocean?
Actually, we have four panda. Zoo Atlanta recieved two grown pandas in… okay I forget the year. In the past two years, a boy and a girl cub have been born. The city of Atlanta likes to promote the family as part of Zoo Atlanta, boost tourism, and hopefully convince the Chinese goverment to renew the lease on the parents.
